Engine light on today, no code displayed. Can you display code by turning key off on off on off on . I did drive at highway speeds for over 50 miles and light is still on. Cannot get into dealer for one week. should I not drive the truck.

Yes you can.



The check engine light will come on for numerous reasons. One of them is for a lose or non-existing fuel cap or a code set do to emission issues.

I would drive the truck to an auto parts store; such as Auto-zone or NAPA and have them read the error code for you. You will then be able to look up what the issue is and decide if the truck is driveable until you can get into the dealer. The truck is program to go into limp mode, so as not to damage anything if there is a serious problem.

I would also buy a code reader. I have one for my truck which I used to use all of the time. This was until the BLUE TEC emissions fell off when I crossed some railroad tracks, and have not used in much since than.

X2 on the Code Reader, everyone should have a OBD2 Code Reader in there tool box, they work on every vehicle from I think about 1994 to current, and they are not much money.

How can one read the fault code on a 2010 without a code reader? I have tried switching from ON to OFF 3 times, and ON to ACCESSORIES 3 times with no success. I was looking for the code to be displayed on the odometer showing full miles (not trip, etc. ).

My engine light came on a few days ago during an all day trip and then went off near the end of the day. Took it to a nearby dealer the next morning and they determined that I was down a fraction of a quart in my auto transmission.



The topped it and charged me nothing! I'll go back there if I need to in that town again!

Get an "EDGE" CTS (Color Touch Screen, and it will read ANYTHING that the OBDll is capable of reading... ... ... You can even clear codes with it.
