Couple codes with check engine light

Need help. Engine light came on a few days ago. Here's what I've done so far to try and clear. Turned key on/off and it showed a companion code 1693 but no other code. I attached OBD scanned and it shows no code so there was no way to delete. I disconnected both batteries and re attached to try and clear dash lite. Nope no success. I even changed the gas cap. Nope. Everything is running good and gages show normal (boost, exhaust, trans, fuel pressure). The truck has been started and driven at least 5 times and light still show up. I'll have to wait until next week to run it over to shop to see if they can clear. Any suggestions.

@fmj, You may have the turbo failing on you. Could be some carbon build up cause the wheel to drag a bit. Also you'll need to check wiring for any issues. A connector could be loose or corroded. Good luck tracking it down.

What do you base this on? There is NO WAY you can determine there’s something wrong with his turbo from what he posted. Why would you jump directly to this? By his statement “Everything is running good and gages show normal (boost, exhaust, trans, fuel pressure)” I’d say he has some simple problem that he’ll have to track down. Not a major part of the engine failing. Come on, man. Scare the socks off of him, why don’t you?

The CODE is of a TURBO ISSUE STARTING. This is the same road that mine went done with the actuator failure on mine. Yes two different turbos but the computer is looking at what is going on. Mine acted normal for quite awhile until it didn't. Boost and EB worked fine for the first few times the code popped up. It wasn't until this issue progressed that I lost boost and EB function. Sometimes these trucks point you at the problem with what they are monitoring. The fact that he can't clear the code is telling you that it needs to be looked at. Yes it could be something else, but when you read about what the code is saying, be ready for what it may mean! Not trying to scare anyone, just dealing with the most important info in the post. Just because everything appears normal doesn't mean that there isn't a major underlying issue. Why steer somebody into thinking it's just a glitch when it could be serious! I go by prep for the worse and hope for the best! @BigPapa. I don't see you offering any help other busting my chops on offering an opinion on what he may be facing!

He has an ‘01, no actuator. In the ‘01, P1693 is this:

Nothing about a turbo issue. I’m not offering assistance because I don't know what his problem is. I do know it’s not his turbo.

@BigPapa, That's why I also said about wiring issues. I know there is no actuator on his MY. A hanging up turbo, not spooling up properly can cause weird codes to pop. Loose wiring could be causing intermittent signals to be given. APPS would need to be checked and hopefully it's the VP44! That's another thing that could be issue. With the companion code given, what are the stored codes that go along with it. From a quick search it could be several different things. Some just simple and others being quite $$$$$. Hopefully OP will get the answers from the shop he goes to. All is good.

Didn't scare me as I just checked the tolerances and boost still gets #30 psi under load. Easy to check off something that might be. Since its a companion code it usually gives me another code but scanner doesn't show companion or any other codes.. I'm looking at wiring digrams to see if theres a short or ground issue.

I just mentioned it in another thread, the Gen2 diagnostics are very very basic from the ECM. And lots of bugs as they never offered updates after the vehicle left the factory. Good you figured it out and it was an easy fix.
