Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) engine loss of power

I have a 2001 24v with 101,000 miles. While at highway speeds (65 -75), I can hear the engine surging, but the RPM and the speed do not change significantly. About every 20 miles, it will suddenly start slowing down (the accelerator pedal has not been moved) and the speed will decrease about 10 mph. Then it will accelerate back to the original speed as if nothing happened.



Anyone have any ideas?

Get the codes by cycling the key on. off ,on off, on off, and leave on codes will show up in the odometer window. write them down and post them here. Codes 0121 and 0122 are connected to the apps. 0216 and others are the fuel injection pump. Be sure you check the lift pump pressure. If you do not have gauges you will need a mechanical gauge plumbed into the system . Fuel filter may be plugged which will cause fuel starvation . There are other potential problems these are some of the common ones. good luck.
