Im not shure if ill have to cal Cummins NW in Portland to info my info or not

but im trying to find out my answer , that i find intersting :

I bought a engine out of what im told was a 97 Dodge 2wd with around 230 K miles The tags on the engine says MFG date of 12-13-93 but is a P pump engine . So is this a 94 transplant or was this misdianosed by were i got it a bone yard , i think i might have to get a vin # ?

The Cummins #s are Engine # 55155437

REF # 53040193

says 160hp of which is no big deal

So is this a 94 or can it be newer ?

Any one know if actual 93 ve harness will plug on to this engine ? I got fire wall out on the p pump engine

Thanks Donovan

The Dodge engines in '97 where 180hp for the Autos and 215hp for the manuals (except Cal) so it sounds to me you have an early '94 engine. Is the turbo and hx-35? The early '94s had a different turbo.

They had a WH1C

Any Cummins distributor can look up the serial number and tell you the engine's history.

There is also a CPL number on the data plate that will indicate what engine it is.

The distributor might need both numbers.

Donovan,

Please double check the Engine Numbers, neither one will work in Cummins QuickServe. Something is not right here.

It should not be old enough to require a trip to my microfiche that is in dusty storage upstairs... :-laf

Could be a ReCon Engine.

See if there is a number that starts with "DR".

Get us every number you can find on the Dataplate.

Donovan, remember the MY years start 6 months before the calendar year. The MY 94 Dodge trucks started building in July of 1993. ;)

With that much discrepency in dates its either a recon or just a replacement engine. From the manufacture date its a 160 HP P-Pump engine and if the turbo is the one that came with the truck its an HX-35. Hard to tell after this much time exactly what but its not really a big deal.

To your question will the 93 VE harness fit, no. Its close but you will have to mod for the differences in the P-Pump. Good luck with the project. :D

Well i read the tag again and i did a typo or i wrote it wrong plus i found the cpl etc

The MFG date is 12-13-93

Engine Serial # 56155437 , this one i had down wrong , oops my bad

Ref # 530401193

Family403 D

Cpl#1815

Turbo is a WHC1

So can any one tell me what has been registerd to this engine and tell me any history and if indeed this is a 94 engine ?????

Thanks Donovan

p. s. any one know how to marry a 93 and 94 wireing harnesses to gether ezily ?

That engine is from an early 94 Dodge with an auto transmission. It was built 13 Dec 1993. It is a 160 HP and therefore doesn't have the same pistons, cam, injectors, turbo or inj pump as the 215 engines. The fuel filter should be a FS1253 spin on, whereas a 97 would be a cartridge. Shadrach

Can't tell you anything in regards to history on the Cummins side as the "B" series are sold to Dodge sans warranty.

All warranty and repair history would be created by Dodge.

I guess leave it to me to find a low horse power engine , oh well , injectors maybe down the road but if any one has $$ to donate we can rebuild it to a bad boy real fast

Don't sweat it Donovan, that little ol' 160 p-pump has LOTS of potential. ;)

Now, if want a really good running VE engine with some upgrades I happen to know where that could be had... ... ... ... :D
