Has anybody seen a direct mounted (either belt driven or gear driven) hydraulic pump mounted on a 6bt series motor in some application (other than automotive i assume)? I am working on installing one of these motors in an odd application which requires hydraulics more substantial than the power steering pump and was hoping some appication utilized a pump mounted in the power steering location on the back of the timing cover or accessory driven.

Thanks

When I used to tow we had clutch pumps on our automatics to drive the hydraulics. I think the common ones were from Muncie Power Products and Chelsea.

You might check with some farm machinery dealers for farm equipment that use engine driven hydraulic pumps. I've seen construction equipment using the 6BT with flywheel driven hydraulic pumps. These pumps usually have large capacity in excess of 20 GPM to operate loaders. The flywheel driven pumps run off the starter ring and have a "wet" flywheel housing to lube the gears.

I have been installing hydraulically powered bale (big round) flatbeds from DewEze since 1994. The pump mounts inline on the engine and uses a slightly longer belt. It uses an electric clutch. They offer 7, 9, 12 or 17 gpm options. Very solid and dependable. Check out Welcome to Harper Industries Inc. ... I have a pto hydraulic pump for the nv4500 but that is not an option due to frame rail clearance and the need for full time service. I looks like the accessory belt option will be the way to go.

Thanks

CW Mill Equipment Co. Sabetha Kansas (785-284-3454)makes mounting kits for belt drive hydraulic pumps. They have a web site too. They are well engineered I've insatalled several in different applications.
