I have a click at the key and no cranking. I keep blowing the 30 amp ign/run fuse under the hood whenever I try to turn the truck over. My windows and blower motor dont work. When I put a new fuse in they work and when I try to start it blows the 30 amp fuse. Is my ignition switch bad or something else wrong??

Any help appreciated and I will check all fuses under the hood

Bud,

Investigate the starter solenoid. First disconnect the small wire and see if the fuse survives twisting the key to start. If it does then you probably need to rebuild the solenoid. Larryb is the place to get parts for it. He is one of the banner advertisers on this site.

just pulled the starter and it is not spinning when I am jumping it.

It appears to be shot:mad:

2 starters in less than 5 years:( :( :confused: :{

Sounds like a bad ground , bad grounds make extra hard starts and heat up the starter and pos post of battry ,over time it will get to the point of no statr situation ,like posted above get the parts and make sure that a good clean ground for starter and battry. Hope thing work out for you with your truck ,. LOL Ron in LOUISVILLE KYOo. :D

Definately look at the solenoid before you decide to replace, it could save you a few hundred bucks.

Try a search on solenoid or starter contacts. There are threads with pictures to help or post here. It's an easy fix, you just change parts.

starter

Two starters in 5 years?????

Is it safe to say when you bench tested it you connected the ground to the starter base AND bypassed the solenoid also????

That strap from the sol-starter contact has been the cause of needless replacements in this rig as in big rigs... . rust& k-d rosion forms on the under side of this strap causing lack of connection and dead shorts---remove strap buff both sides & ends and retest!!

6 years old-750k mi- oem still in place.
