I've used alot of different oil over the years, fossil and synthetic. The most important thing is to change it regularly and use a good filter. I am pasionate about my filters, I use ONLY Fleetguard Stratapore filters.



The oil I am using now is Valvoline Premium Blue. Now that I have passed the 15K mileage mark, next change I will probably switch to Premium Blue Extreme.



Did someone mention air filters? I just got a Scotty III. I like it pretty well, it sure is less restrictive. I also like the enclosed design for noise purposes ( I like the quiet in these '03s ). You hear the Exhaust Brake and the turbo whine a little more, but it is not offensive.

Well I can tell you that the guys that sell the 50 H. P. air filters probably have some of them 10 H. P. oil filters!

I just did my first oil change on the 03', yesterday. Realized last night, that I made a mistake. I ran Rotella for years in my 96' and never had any problems, sure I read on the boards that it had an odor, but I never smelled it, except maybe while pouring it in during the change. But last night I pulled up to a stoplight and an oily stench came in through the vents, smelled like axle grease... then once I got moving it went away... then today we were sitting in some traffic and there it was again, bad enough this time that my wife complained. I don't know why, in the 12 valve I never had this smell, but now on the 24 valve 03' I'm getting it bad! Someone had posted that after about the first 500 miles, the smell goes away... . I hope so. On the 96' I ran delvac1 the past 80,000 miles. I may switch to that after breakin period... I will definitely switch from Rosmella next change!

Ah the smell of Rosemella, how can you not like it.



One note the more you smell it the more blowby you have. I noticed that it was stronger smelling on my 2000 then my 2002?

Not only hp increase but also MPG increase, heck each mod I've done has increased fuel mileage so much that I find my self having to drain the tank

looks that way, but the date on the product sheet is 11/13/2001. it may have a newer rating now being 2003... who knows...

The Shell Rotella website only shows the 5w40 synthetic and it is rated C-H4.

How bout the 15-40. The web site list all codes from here to jupiter including SH. But the gallon I'm looking at while listing CI-4 only list SL and SJ. No SH?

The "S" (spark) designation are for gassers and the "C" (compression) designations are for Diesels. The SH means nothing to our diesel oil spec.

I saw it said exceeds SL and SJ for gas but my owners man says CI-4/SH (why does it add the SH?) and not wanting to be my own warrentee I had doubts. I've always used rotella in my Ford with no problems and am looking forward to that rich arromatic fragrance mentioned above. Actually I've gallons of it on hand and don't want to spend the fundatations. Hopefully I won't have to pull out a respirator.

Yea, I read that before I asked here and much to my wife's pleasure I'm sitting here with a gallon ( I think she's waiting to see if I'll open it cause I don't know why else she'd be carying a 10" cast skillet or why she keeps cutting those eyes my way with the "what are you fixing to do now" look, I have a history) and I see what you're saying. Its just that the jug is labled API CI-4/SL and my owners man states CI-4/SH. I'm not trying to be argumentative (its a gift ) I just don't want Dodge hanging me out to dry down the road on the technicallity that I used oil with the wrong gas rating. "Yes thats the correct diesel rating, oh but look thats the wrong gas rating, I'm sorry your screwd, that will be $3000. " You know, some people have all the luck kind of thing.

If you need reassurance call and ask your service manager at the dealership. My dealer uses Rotella T 15w40.
