Engine overhaul???

If you check out my post "HELP what to do $$$" you will see I am facing a big job. Now my question is the oil pan has been sealed with RTV, would it be worth pulling the negine and doing the gear cas and the oil pan the right way. How hard is engine removal and how much do you think removal, gear cover gasket, oil pan gasket, and installation would run? At that point what else would you suggest doing if engine is removed?

Have you made sure that the pan is leaking? The crank shaft seal in the gear case cover WILL leak if it is not installed correctly. It's made of teflon and MUST be installed dry on a very clean crank nose. Did you ask me for the info about installing the KDP tab fix? If so that is the same job to replace the crank seal. If not, then e-mail me and I'll send you the info. -- email address removed -- Might as well block the KDP while you are at it. It's a good idea to use some brake cleaner to clean up the pan and gear case cover so you can tell where the leak is. The wind will blow oil all over so leaks are very hard to find. My truck underside is pretty well rust proofed from a little leak that I HOPE I just found.
