engine problem codes

I was going to post to tell everyone how much better I liked my 2001 4x4 5spd than the 99 4x4 auto I traded off. But now I have a problem with the new one at 1000 miles. The check engine light came on and it started to idle rough. Rune fine at higher rpm and it didn't affect the mileage a bit. Here are the codes that appear on the odometer after cycling the key three times .
P 0071
P Ecu
P 1693
Can anyone tell me what these codes mean?

Hank-I dug out my 2001 book-the first three codes are not listed, and the P1693 indicates
that a "fault has been generated in the companion engine control module"; or "A companion DTC was set in both the ECM and PCM". Not much help chief-sorry... If it doesn't set the code again I understand that it will clear itself, but if it continues to run rough, I would have it checked out. My opinion...

It is still running the same with the light on and the same codes still come up. So I guess I will take it to the doctor tomorrow or the next day. What book were you looking the codes up in?

Page 25-5 of the 2000 DC service manual AND the 2001 supplement (same codes). Hope the doc helps-get the service manuals if you have any intention of working on your beast yourself-also if you don't trust your DC dealer...
