I have a friend with an 01 24 valve HO 6 spd, It has some surging problems, missing or stumbling, it dies then catches while at highway speed and lacks the power it had when new. It hasn't thrown any codes yet either :{ . He has had the lift pump changed twice then the new in tank pump installed, he has had the vp-44 injection pump changed, multiple fuel filter changes, fuel pressure checked, map sensor cleaned, APPS reset. Anyone have any suggestions on what to check next? If I had some spare sensors (CPS,APPS) I would swap them in and see if they made a difference. At a cruise is were his problems are, on acceleration it seems to be ok. All suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I had about the same symptoms each time my injection pumps were failing. Would not set any codes at first. Kept driving and finally the IP death code showed up.

any mods? i ran into VERY similar issues with a bad ground on my Comp. Check ALL OF THE GROUNDS !! With the ECM on the block, the ground to the engine is critical.

This truck is totally stock, Its been into Cummins twice and the dealers several times, the bad thing about it I was the one to convince him to buy the Dodge over the Ford. Thanks for the replies so far. We will check all the grounds, thanks

Can the APPS (go pedal position sensor) or the CPS (crank position sensor) throw eroneous info to the computer without showing a trouble codes? Anyone know what engine funtions that cause these problems arn't conected to the engine trouble code system? I'm an old 12 valver that hasn't had any of these problems, Thanks
