Put in 275's. Pulled 5er 350 miles. . Helped a lot on power. Fuel mileage about the same(bad 9. 4mpg).

On return trip,installed EZ,and Moparguy filter. .

Ran better as far as performance. First tank of fuel mileage about same.

Near end of trip. . Ebrake on,decelerating, declutch to downshift, engine died, let out on clutch and she started right up. Did this twice. Checked this morning and have P1693 code,no engine light. Could it of been the EZ?

Thanks

The 1693 code is the mystery code. Mine has it in the ECM but runs fine. Don't know that it is causing the problem.

Maybe a combo of decel/downshift and ebrake on? Have you tried downshifting without the ebrake engaged to see if it dies also?

To isolate you may want to unhook the EZ and try it again.

Assume you have looked at the IAT regarding poor mileage. It may have a contributing factor in this problem if bad as it affects the fueling.

The 1693 code is a companion code--that is, both the PCM and ECM are detecting something. Most of the time, the code means nothing... However, on evry VP44 I have replaced, the 1693 code is present. I have not yet seen it, or any other code in my truck yet. SOme have it, some don't.

It seems like two things going on. When you were running just the 275 injectors, how high of boost were you getting it to? Above 20psi? Is your lift pump still working?

I've had this happen twice now, since installing the EZ and FMS. I've taken apart their connections to the MAP sensor and data port harnesses and replugged them in and voila, cured. Hope your's is this easy of a fix.

I found out the hard way the other night this is a common problem with the map sensor, the orange wire going is the boost detector and code 1693 is overboost. the pin inside of the map has come loose and is pushed back into the conection. look in the trucks conector and you will see.

thanks to Aaron at edge for helping with this one.

Maybe fixed

Thanks all... I used the OBD2 software from Alex Peiper(SP) and erased the 1693 code. . Took the connections apart at MAP and data link, replugged. . I haven't taken out the MAP sensor and checked the orange wire. Will do that next if problem shows up again. I have driven about 400 miles and it works OK. No load yet so will have to wait and see if that has anything to do with it.

BTW. . Fuel Pressures both pre and after filter are normal. . ie,same as they have always been. Pre around 12 at idle maybe ten when pulling hard. Boost runs around 22 when pulling hill. Hey I don't push any harder than I have too.

Thanks for the tips. Will let you know if it reoccrurs.
