Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Engine RPMS goes max when shifting into drive

I have a 99 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9L Cummins I backed it out of the garage fine shifted into drive and the engine raced and RPMS maxed out. turned truck off and put it in park. Truck would not start. Thinking it was the VP44 I talked to blue chip diesel. I printed out their 20 page diagnostic and ran through all the tests. Come to find out the VP44 is fine the FASS lift pump is fine. I accidently left the key in the on position and the batteries went dead. I charged the batteries and the truck started fine fuel pressure gage reads 18 to 20psi. Backed up fine put in drive and engine raced away again. error code 0606 shows on scan tool. Any advise or help on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Keith
