I just finished installing the larger starter contacts and the Solenoid Saver Diode on my '97.
Starter works great now. Trouble is that the engine won't always shut off; I thought the diode was supposed to prevent that.
I wasn't having this problem before I made the changes to the starter.
When I first got done reinstalling the starter and hooking up the batteries, the truck started right up and shut off when I turned the key to the "OFF" position.
Later on, when I had the information from Sony to reset the radio, I started the truck and reset the radio. It was when I tried to shut it off that the problem first began.
Could the radio itself be backfeeding somehow, keeping the fuel solenoid energized? ( Never had that problem before either)
I finally got the engine to shut off by fiddling with the key/ignition switch, so maybe the problem lies somewhere in the switch.
Any ideas?
