Another brake question(again)

Where would the Engine Serial Number be located on my 92? I am assuming that it would be on a little metal plate located on the Timing cover in the front of the motor. I happened to paint that little shiny plate so I will probably clean that off tonight or very soon. Mostly wondering because I need a new TPS and local Cummins place asks for the serial number to match the TPS to the motor. Dodge just wants TOO MUCH ($345) for it so now looking elsewhere.
Thanks

I just checked mine, it's on the metal tag on the drivers side of the timing cover. Hope you did'n put too much paint on it because the number are not stamped very deep, and the legend is screen printed. None of the numbers on the plate were called a serial number, but there is a reference number and an engine number, I think these will be what you need. Now my plate seems to be on upside down, it reads from the rear of the engine, and my numbers are near the top.

Hope this helps Neil C

I read were someone took the tps apart and cleaned out the carbon dust and it worked fine. For a $100+ I would try cleaning mine first, you can't hurt it -- its NG the way it is now. Just my $. 002
