Hey guys, i'm posting this for a new member that has'nt had any luck getting registered
yet with the new server so here is his problem, i'm shure he will be gratefull for any help

forwarded mesage below

A few months ago, when idling at low rpms, several things would shut
down suddenly, almost like turning the key off: engine, radio, advisory
panel, battery gauge. I did notice that the little light under the hood
also went out. After a short period of time (about 30 seconds or so)
everything would just come back on like nothing had ever happened. Now,
of course, it is starting to happen more and more often, and definitely
seems to be related to heat. Recently it was 107 degrees here, and I had
to turn my AC off and keep the temp normal just to get home, 20 miles
away. My mechanic and the local dealer have thrown up their hands.
They can't get it to occur, and even if they could, it comes back within
a few seconds. The dealer checked the switch and said it looks ok.

John, when you say "shut down" do you mean your engine died-subsequently causing your electrical systems to shut down as well? I'm fairly new to diesel trouble-shooting but several months ago I had a ("shut down") fuel solenoid go bad... causing the engine to die. I could restart and run it for a few seconds, then it would die again. Perhaps this is what's happening to yours (to a smaller extent), with the temperature issue being incidental. Might be worth asking if your shop checked the fuel solenoid. Good luck

Problem solved fowarded message below

Rick:

You are right on! We found it today. It was actually one of the
connections to a fuseable link that had corroded, and when it got hot
and the resistance increased it acted like an open link, but when it
cooled... . bam!... everything came back on. We were getting off the trail
because we were thinking fuseable link open = it stays open. We had to
replace all the fuseable links. Some of the other connections were ready
to go. Maybe you can post that for the others, and thanks a million. I
can't believe you nailed it.
