I wanted to get a little advice on my 2000 with 158,000K. Recenly in the past 10,000 miles i have had a few issues with the truck when i am accelerating up the mountains or pulling a trailer. The best way to describe it is feels like a small miss (like a bad wire or spark plug) in a gas engine. Its real brief and only under load. When it gets bad i add BD catalist fuel engine treatment and after 200 miles or so its better. I am wondering since i have never really messed with the injectors, if those can be getting worn and gaining build up. I am keeping above 15psi @WOT.

Any suggestions

Friends truck started doing that. . made it about another 500 miles before the VP died completely... it was an '02 with ~150k miles

Mine was doing the same thing, everyone said it was the vp so I replaced it and it still does it. #@$%! I thing it has to do with engine timing. I'm willing to bet it doesn't do it when you unhook your edge box

Yea i am not sure, the VP has about 20,000 on it and i sure hope that is not the case. I agree that it will most likely not do it when the edge chip is un plugged but i am not sure if its a timing issue or the fact that truck is not delivering the fuel the ECM is expecting. I am just wondering if not a VP could an injector be plugging and causing a loss in fuel to maybe one cylender? I have no experience in taking out or looking at injectors thus far. Should i investigate that or has anyone else had issues.

thanks for the replies.

Just a side note i am thinking it is not the VP, most of the time they will fail like you said in less than 1000 miles when you start to have symptoms of something. This has been going on for about 10,000 with three trips of well over 1,000 each.
