My truck sat for 3 weeks in cold weather, down to 10f. When I started it up after sitting it ran rough (like on 4 cyl. ) white smoke poured out ex pipe. As truck warmed up it gradually ran better, when engine was warm it ran fine. Intake heater seems to be working (volt meter reading) drops. never did this before.

My 94 did the same as it was sitting for a wile, when i started it it was about 9* outside and it smoked like crazy. I have been hereing a lot that it is the timing, so that is what im going to do about it.

And the 370's make alot more white smoke, cold, at that temp. I have a pic of my truck after I started it on a cold day. Just check the RR.

Wait till you get below -20F. Many times I've started below -20 not plugged in, sputter yes, smoke oh yeah. Yeah it didn't like it and didn't sound good but I was the only unplugged diesel in the yard with a fire burning :). As long as it'll crank... ... it'll start.

Just giver time to warm up and thin out the oil before you hit the road.
