engine sounds like it is back fireing

Hey all, AAT differnt boost levals and throttle positions my motor sounds like it backe fires. the edge box is on level 1 and the tst is 5/4. what do yall think this could be thanks Cliff

There was a write up in the latest TDR about that problem (and I believe it was with the TST). It sounds like an injector is hanging or misfiring causing the engine to backfire.

The article is on page 110 and was called Testing Stuff. It said there is a little glitch with TST's programming that occasionally keeps one injector open during the exhaust stroke thus causing the backfire. It required a software update to correct the problem.



If it is not a software glitch with your TST, then you have an injector sticking open. Contact TST and tell them what your problem is and see what they suggest.

A good friend of mines 03 48re 2 wd at about 25k did this two or three times in about a week period. Its totaly stock. It now has 90plus k on it and has never occured again.

my truck does the same thing backfires out exhaust under load had the edge box did it real bad. got rid of that and got the ramifier and bully dog pup do not notice as bad,did injector kill test #4&5 injector causing problem,star hot line told me clean carbon off injectors,just have not had time yet to pull ingectors
