Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Engine Squeak or SQUEEEEEALLL!!!

Hi All,



I hope someone has had this problem. .



I have a loud squeal comming from the front of the engine. I have replaced the idler with the cast one, I have replaced the bearings in the alternator and today for the he!! of it I changed the water pump. Still squealing. Temperature doesn't matter. Also with the belt off, I spin the fan pulley (only bearing I haven't replaced) and it spins freely with no noticeable drag or roughness. Cycling the AC makes no difference. We are taking a trip in a week and I am afraid to leave town with this noise. It is driving me nuts. Could it be internal?

Have you tried to run it with out the belt on? (not for very long) just start it and see if its still there, that would narrow it down.
