My Truck is a 2004 with the 5. 9 HO and when I used it today it stalled out. I restarted it but when I put my foot on the pedal it had no power.

Like it did not have enough fuel.

I think it's the fuel filter could I be right?

And I turned the key 3 times to try and find the code and it came back (Done) and then (------).

So does this mean no codes was sent from the computer?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Thanks

why do you think it is the fuel filter... do you not change very often..... but I would change no matter what

snip - "its probably the throttle position sensor or APPS "accelerator pedal position sensor" (same thing... ). Mine seem to last about 180K miles before they crap out.

I think Geno's has started selling these for some YM trucks... worth checking with them at Dodge Cummins Diesel Truck Accessories - Geno's Garage as the parts are pretty pricey from MOPAR. "

I think they're in "Dodge > Rebuild Kits & Replacement Parts > Sensors"

On edit: I don't see the third gen APPS part number on Geno's site...

Another edit: if your truck is a real 2004 (a 305/555) and if it is an automatic the APPS part number is: 53031575-AH

How much fuel was in the tank?

If it was an apps/tps problem it wouldn't have died, just simply returned to idle.

A plugged fuel filter would allow you to start to get going then die, starving for fuel. If the engine is running but not responding to the throttle then check the Apps. Fuel pump could be in question but the engine would run out of fuel and not run at all... . JUst a thought.

Thanks I really appreciate the come back.

I had plenty of fuel and I just replaced the fuel pump a year ago.

I replaced the fuel filter and air filter and that did not do any good.

So I had it towed to the dealer and while I was threre I traded it in for a 2010 ; 3500 dual wheel ; 8 ft big cab with the 6. 7 with 25,000 miles.

I think I got a good deal because I paid 37,000. 00 and I got a dodge extended warrenty for 5 years.

What do you think they gave me 11,000. 00 for my 04 as is and it was not running and had a damaged bumper with 84,000. 00.

It does have a snow plow though.

Thanks Again

No knowing what cab/bed configuration, but I would still say they probably got the better end of the deal. They cut at least 3k off your trade in for it not running and it may have been a less than $500 fix.

If the fuel filter wasn't plugged it was probably a lift pump, but hard to tell, thou most everything else will throw a code. . most, but not all.

The wife and children would have to be pretty hungry for me to sell my 04 with 112k miles for $22,000!!!
