So everyone knows what is happening and will post results!!

Today on the way to work truck running fine doing 60 MPH when truck started surgeing. Sort of like a miss but not. :( Knowing it was going to stop running started to cross 4 lanes of traffic for next off ramp. I did not get a chance to look at my FP guage as was busy dodging traffic!!! Engine stopped just as making ramp these things steer hard when engine not running. :rolleyes: Managed to shoot between S10 Chevy and concrete barrier with a inch to spare and off freeway ramp. Oo. Should have seen the eyes of the S10 driver!!!!:p

Truck would not restart; tried several times. 2 codes set P1693 which is the general code that another code set. P0500 which I think got set because going probably 40 mph with engine not running this code talks about speed sensor. No other codes set that would flash. Opened drain valve at fuel filter and fuel drained out so I think had fuel there. Even so turning on and off key I did not hear LP run!!! Maybe it was you know freeway noisey as all heck!!! Fuel guage had a little ove 1/8 tank but my gauge when at 1/8 has about 5 gallons left. Least it did the last time I ran it this low.

Had truck taken to Bill Luke (bought truck there and the few times they did recall work) here and of all the dealers they seem to be best. Still don't like sending it there. They said their diesel mechanic off the next 2 days. They could have one of the other mechanics look at it. I said rather wait!!! :{

I have a slight right steering pull and might as well have them look at it for what it is worth since they will have the truck anyway. 48,000 miles but do have extended Dodge warrantly!! I know a waste but who knows maybe this will pay for itself this time.

I will let everyone know what the dealer says they find or don't find so all willl know for their files!!!! Hope this don't turn into a shouting match with dealer like others have had. :-{}

Ron Bissett ~ Your right Ron thanks for mentioning this. I probably would have paid the $50 deductable and not thought of it. :mad: Called Service Manager today and they did have one of their non-diesel mechanics look at it :eek: and they said it was out of fuel!:--) Put fuel in and got it started!! Will guage showed 1/4 tank and when I open drain valve fuel drained. Not 100% sure this is the correct diagnoses. They are going to replace some module anyone know which one to correct wrong reading gauge?:confused: By the way fuel fill up before this it was down to 1/8 and chime went off with fuel light and it had 5 gallons left. Wonder why all of a sudden it went bad?:confused:

Keep you posted this may turn into a dealer saga we will see!!!:{ I think Monday when the diesel mechanic gets back off vacation will talk to him. :D

My bet: you are out of diesel fuel. It's happened to me 3 times at a little over the 1/8th mark. All three times I was out of , or low on fuel. Had our fuel truck fill me up and after letting the air out of the injectors, started right up with no other problems.

Now at 1/2 tank I fill up. ;)

RobbyRam ~ You and the dealer maybe correct I just ran out of fuel. The guage sure went from registering correct to NOT very fast (1 fuel stop). Guess will have to go by trip computer milage instead of the fuel gauge. Should find out tomorrow and at this point will have to believe what the dealer say as I have no absolute reason why not except suspicion.

By the way anyone know what module the dealer was talking about replacing to correct the bad guage registration?

I also have had this happen to me you were most likely to be out of fuel the module they are referring to is in the fuel tank it is the arm assembly on the pickup that gets stuck after time. Very typicaly it is around the 1/8 mark that it sticks.

Another way to keep track is to reset the trip each time you fuel up. Kinda use as a second fuel gauge.

MCrossley~ Yes I am fortunate actually and know it. Is there a way to fix this without removing the tank? I think probably not but in some ways thats good; if that module failes at least the tank is already empty. :p

Bill H~Well I checked the trip computer milelage after picking up the truck at the dealer. It showed 652 miles driven and after checking my fuel log the most I had ever driven on a tank is 601 since truck new. Doubt the dealer put on very much in test driving if any.

They moved tires around to correct right pull. Still a little pull and doubt this helped really. The pull is so slight it maybe not be noticable except to use anal TDR people. Wait and see if it gets worse then take back again. :{
