I have a 2001 HO Cummins and when i am going down the road it seems like it runs out of fuel just for a second and then it comes right back on. i do have the banks power pack on my truck and i love it. i have called them to ask them if they any ideas. they said the lead that goes to the injector pump is loose. i have yet to sodder that. The other thing that i have noticed is that my mileage has decreased. i am just wondering if any of yall have had this problem. if it is not the banks lead then i think it might be the lift pump. i have put the fuel gage on it and i was reading about 13psi but that was just at idle. let me know what yall think.

My '01. 5 started doing that on a cross country trip a while back. I changed the fuel filters... they were BOTH all but totally plugged. I guess I got a REALLY bad load of fuel. The filters weren't that old. (I added a pre filter and pusher pump under the cab) Problem went away.

TSB ...

There's a TSB for this same problem for 2000 trucks. Mine is a 99 and has this problem - about every 500-1000 miles (no matter how many miles on the fuel filter), it does exactly that - feels like you turn the ignition off then right back on. It's never set a code, and it's done it since new. I just live with it (after about 8 trips to 3 different dealers).

do you think it migh be the lift pump going bad. i have been considering getting a pusher pump to help out but i really dont need it if its not going to fix the problem.

Engine goes to idle

I have an 01 3500 HO. My truck would drop off and before I could look at the gauges it was back pulling again. This happened before I installed the TST kit. I took mine to the Dodge shop and they FLASHED the computer (TSB, I do not have the number). The shop said the engine forgot how fast it was going for a second. The problem did not show for a year until a trip to South Dakota, then two times in an hour and that was it. That was 6 months ago. No warning or after effect, accept for my nerves. This is like the dowel pin problem on my 96. It must be fixed. Good luck.
