I have read in the past about others having problems with an engine stumble. Well I seem to have got the bug. It doesnt seem to have any pattern, some times it will do it while idleing, sometimes going down the road. It feels like it shuts off for a split second and then goes right back to normal otherwise runs great. I hate to take it to the dealer because last time they kept it for 2 weeks and I still have a goofy temp gauge that pegs for no reason sometimes and sets my check engine light, but thats another story.

Check your fuel pressures for 'just in case'... but it's usually an ECM problem. Only way to fix that is to have he dealer reflash it.

Mine's been doing this exact thing for the last 25000 miles. I have taken it to three different dealers and nobody can fix it. I've had all kinds of reflashes done to try and fix it, but nothing worked. It has never left me stranded, but it really pi$$es me off because I know it shouldn't do it.

Some people have had good luck with using the 275 injectors. I know it doesn't make sense, when a friend of mine switched to the 275's he claimed that his truck went from doing the stumble once or twice a month to doing it about every three or four months.

I don't know if it will help anyone but mine stumbled once at idle and in gear. Because of the load that was on the engine from the transmission, the engine stalled. When it did all the electricals in the truck turned off. I mean everything. It was kind of spooky to me. There were no dash lights, no bells or beepers or anything. The radio even went dead. The truck would not restart either. When I turned the key to the crank position nothing happened. I had to turn the key off and then back on before I could get the truck to crank and then it started and ran like nothing at all had happened.

Good luck,
Mike

[edit]
I have checked the fuel pressure on mine and at least in my case that is not the issue.

Any other ideas? Is there a TSB for engine stumble? I had the reflash done 18-11-99 about a year ago and was happy with the results but while trying to fix my temp gauge and check engine light problem the dealer replaced first the dodge computer, that didnt help, then the Cummins puter, that didnt help. They had my truck for ten days and it still acts up occasionally, I decided to live with it. When they put a new ECM in does it come with the latest programming and updates? I would like to get it fixed before my next mods(I see DD3s in my near future). I need to take it in for my 2nd track bar anyway(at 30k miles) they will probably keep it another 2weeks.

Mine had a stumble also, put in 275 seemed to be less frequent, then i had ecm reflashed and have not had it happen since. about 5000 mile now.
a new engine ecm usualy comes blank. the dealer has to put in the program. any way that been my experiance on ecms.
