Was wondering if anybody had the same problem? 6 times now

I`ll be driving along, and the engine dies for a sec. step on the throttle and nothing. then in afew seconds it will start accelerating again. When this happens the check engine light comes on and stays on for about 4 or 5 startups later, then the check engine light goes out. It acts just like you turn the key off and in a few seconds turn the key back on. The truck has 4,300 miles on it. I tried unhooking the batterys to clear the ecm memory and it just shut off again today. Any ideas what might be causing this?

I want to know as well.

My moms truck (see sig) did the same thing not long after she baught it, less than 10,000 miles on it:eek: :confused: It was a little overdue for an oil change so that evening I changed the oil and it has not done it since, it now has over 130,000 miles on it.

Did you pull the code/codes off the odometer ??? If so, what were they ??? If you don't know how, all you have to do is key on/key off 3 times, leaving it keyed on the 3rd time. You are not starting the truck or bumping the starter, just turning to key on, as you would before a normal start up, waiting for the 'wait to start' light to extinguish. Let us know.

Thanks guys for the reply`s. I checked the codes and they were; p1693 and 0121. I looked them up in my service manual and one of them was, low voltage on the accelerator position sensor. And i`m not sure what the 1693 code means? DTC detected in companion module. I could not find what DTC stands for. Looks like I will have to take into the stealer you suppose??? I really hate the thought of that. Thanks alot BigSaint for telling me how to check the codes, I had seen something about it on here a while back but I couldn`t remember how to do it. Greatly appreciated. Any ideas on which route to go on getting it sorted out?

DTC= Diagnostic Trouble Code

The P1693 means a code set in ECM and PCM. Most likely its associated with the 0121 you got. I wouldn't worry bout it.

Sounds like your APPS is acting up tho (throttle position sensor).

Glad I could help. If you are still under warranty, I'd take it to the dealer. I'm not sure if there is a sensor you can replace yourself or if the entire unit needs to be replaced ???
