Need some help fellas - a buddy just called me about an engine surge at 1600-1700 RPM. He said that it started after he installed an Edge EZ and that it surges every time he gets to that RPM range. He's got a 5-speed and no gauges.

I figured that the Edge might be bad but also thought about the lift pump.

I've told him to unplug the EZ and see if it still does it and I'm going to check his lift pump this weekend. Is there anything we need to look at?

I know several people have had problems with an EZ surging but could it be anything else?

My surging problem threw a code 216, now the dealer is installing the 2nd I/P. My truck is stock though.

:--) NO GUAGES??!!!! I had the surging problem with my 01' last year I had a Diablo Sport Power Puck. I drove it back from Utica New York surging but still seemed to be running fine. The next morning went out and cranked it backed out of my driveway and left a white smoke trail all the way to the dealership The problem was that da@# electronic lift pump was pumping 4lbs of pressure at idle and my VP44 was needless to say JUNK. 15-18lbs @ idle... . 9-13lbs WOT. It is NOT impossible but, highly unlikely the Edge is causing the problem

Mine was doing the same thing, with a Comp. Runs normal when I turn it off. Just started this winter, about when my LP started to get weak. Still fighting with the dealer about warranty replacement on that one. Actually, the dealer has been great, they are fighting about it for me. But that's another story...

mine is doing the same thing,i have a comp without the wire hooked up, my fp is good and no codes, it only does it when it is cold like below 30 even when i turn the comp off i can still feel it not as noticiable but it isnt getting as much fueling either with it turned off it may just be a bad ground or a little dirty conection but i just didnt go check anything yet.
