ok guys heres the deal... we put in a pull out engine from a 91 to a 92. . we also bought a rebuilt nv4500 from bluementhals in ok city, and replaced the getrag with it... now the engine seems to be rocked back to far... it is hitting the fan shroud(spelling)? and when we bought the transmission mounts, they were not the right ones, so do you think the engine didnt seat right? or why is the nv4500 up against the frame/floor now???? any help would be VERY appreciated!!!! honest monte

I don't know the specifics of your trans conversion but the engine will rock/tilt easily and needs the rear trans mount to stabilize fore/aft mov't. I would ensure that the crossmember you have in there is one made for the nv4500 that quad 4x4 sells etc before moving forward. I dodn' thtink thte getrag one will work.

thanks, i am pretty sure we used the getrag cross member... it is a 92 4x4, and where do you think i could buy a cross member?? do you think a cross member from a 94-98 dodge will work? m. w. w.

Questions

You can call Blumenthals and they will have all the answers you need. They are especially helpful, plus you are already a customer. By the way if they have a part you need they will be happy to drop ship, overnite if needed. R C

Is the 91 engine non-intercooled? Did the 92 truck originally have a Cummins engine in it? If yes and yes, the fans, fan clutches, fan mounts and fan bearings are different on intercooled vs non-intercooled engines. The off set on the mounts move the fan to one side or the other and closer or away from the radiator. The fix would be the correct fan assembly/mount etc. Not cheap if you don't have it laying around.

Edit: just reread that the 4500 is up against the floor. Hmm, sounds like you have more problems. Can't help ya there.

engine tilts back too far

You dont have to change the cross member ,i swapped out the get trash for an nv4500 ,the probl;em is the crappy stock rubber mounts go to www.polybushings.com and buy the pollyurthane ones then the problem will be corrected mine did the same thing

thanks, i will see if this helps. . i found out yesterday, they sent the wrong mounts with the unit... . would you install the ones from blumenthals or these poly ones???? honest monte

yes they were both the same intercooled engines... and yes it had a cummins intercooled engine... the wrong transmmission mounts seems to be the culprit here, however, i am waiting for the other mounts and will reply later to this... thanks

engine tilts back too far

Id go with the poly mounts ,i also for got to mention ,you will need a peice of 3" square tubing to block the transmission back to its proper location ,this is what advance adapters gives you in there kit

engine tilts back too far

the tubeing ,goes under the transmission mount between the factorymount ,its used as a spacer ,,for pics on this dig through the arcive post or

e-mail Bob Bergman or e-mail him at -- email address removed -- ,he gots pics

or contact advance adapters for info
