Installed a #11 TST fuel plate a few months ago and since then the engine seemed to have a high freq vibration. I slid the plate all the way forward a few days ago (BomBidis) and the vibration seems to have gotten worst. I feel it in the steering wheel and also in the floorboard. I read somewhere that replacing the engine dampener with the 215 hp which is heavier will help. Anyone else experence this problem??

Gene-C:

I have a truck which is similarly
equipped like yours, however, my
truck is a 4X4.

I have had both the #6 TST plate
and now the #5 TST plate with no
problems as you describe. I have
also heard that a 215 engine
dampener could help this.

Good luck on the problem. You
may want to give Joe Donnelly
or Mark Chapple a call. I'm
sure they can help you.

The torque plate did not cause the vibration. Why do you have a #11 in a 180 hp automatic Ram? The 11 is for 215 hp 5 speed engines. You should have, in increasing hp, 8, 6, 5, 4, with the 11 giving good mid range but less top end power than the plates designed for your engine.

Joe: I may not have made myself clear about the vibration. I do not mean that the fuel plate caused the vibration but that it started after I installed it. I also said I have the #11 plate when in fact I have the #8 plate as stated in my signature. My typo. I have heard that the Hormonic Balancer's do go bad with the rubber hub failing. How do I tell if that in fact happend??? Will the 215 balancer help and is it really heaver or made any different???
The vibration feels like one of those beds that you find in a cheap hotel that you put a quarter in and it vibrates for a few min.
This vibration after about one hr of driving will make you almost sick. It takes a long time after you get out of the truck for the feeling to go away.

Follow up:::: Talked to Mark and Joseph and got some ideas. Did a lot of checking and still had the vibration... Slid the #8 plate back to the center position (where the stock plate was) and centered the AFC housing. BINGO!!!! Vibration reduced back to normal(for a 6 cycl diesel). Maybe a 215 hp Hormonic Balancer would help . See post by Hemi Dart.

Thanks to All that helped. Gene-C
