All of a sudden I noticed an excessive vibration in the steering wheel , it's worse with the truck in drive , not as bad in nuetral or park. Even the rear view mirror vibrates , tried turning the a/c off , no difference. Cruising speed all seems fine , it's just when the truck is idling. Anyone else ever experience this?

Wayne, did this just start recently or has your truck always done this? Is the vibration frequency the same as the sound of your motor? ie, maybe there is a problem with your motor mounts or something?

The Autos I've driven seem to emanate vibration through the steering wheel at idle in gear, due to the slight load at low RPM.

I haven't run into it on a diesel... probably because I don't work on that many. But, I have seen it many times on gassers. Check your motor mounts and trans mount. I have seen the motor mounts break and let the metal limiters hit. I have seen the center of the trans mount get bad enough to allow it to sag and hit the cross member. When this happens, it is like having solid metal mounts... the vibration is tremendous!!!

Vaughn it started all of a sudden, the only other suggestion besides motor mount's i've heard is air in the fuel system ? I did just change the fuel filter before this vibration started, guess it's a place to start.
