A buncha years ago, my John Deere dealer's shop foreman told me not to spray water on a hot injection pump.

I use my pressure sprayer with a plastic bag over the alternator and have never had a problem.

Times two on this one. Plus I cover the box were the fuses are.

I have always washed all my engines on everything I have owned. My favorite is Simple Green let soak for a few minutes and wash off. Yes I use a presure washer turned down a bit and don't cover anything. When done start and let run till everything is DRY. Never let the water sit on anything. I do this several times a year and hose off eveytime I wash. Not yet have I had a problem.
