hello all,
new to TDR.
06 qcsb 4x4

engine is having an audible miss between 1200-1500 rpms.
sounds of a slight miss at idle.
exhaust has fuel smell with no smoke.
no blowby, not making oil either.
miss/ knock most audible on pass side of engine.
i do have the fan clutch dtc.
per my torque app, engine would only obtain 22.6 psi boost.

i do occasionally get black or white smoke under load.

any help is greatly appreciated

Injector malfunctioning, all the symptoms. You might try a cleaning and heavy dose of additives in the tank and see if they are just sticky.

ATF the old style Dexron, MMO, injector cleaner, any of them will work to a degree. An injector kill test will track it down but requires software to do it. Short on boost also, sounds like the WG controller may be bad. Boost should max out a 30 psi with no tuner.

where is best place for injectors?

i live in northwest florida and pensacola fuel injection (pensacola diesel)
is around the block from my work.
they have reasonable price on new bosch units. i think around 1600 for the set?

If you have an injector going bad, it is highly advisable to NOT drive it until you have it repaired. One of the ways to ruin an engine QUICK in these trucks. There is a cap you can buy, that one at a time, it goes onto the fuel rail in place of one of the injector lines. This blocks off that cylinder and you see how the other 5 run. You might try an infrared heat gun and point it at the same location on each cylinder to see if you find one cooler than the rest. Usually you would point it at the exhaust port, the same place on each cylinder.

Here is the link to the Cummins block off plug. http://puredieselpower.com/dodge-products/dodge-5.9-6.7l-cummins-diesel-rail-test-plug-3164325.html

WG controller is easy to defeat with a resistor and boost elbow which allows manual control of the boost.

If you like your truck don't bother with Pensacola Diesel, worst bunch of junk on the market. The BMS50's are probably the best bang for the buck on the market, lots of vendors selling them.

awesome. who would a good company to go through?

on another note, what temp does your engines usually run?

mine was running 185, but since my p0483 code have noticed temps hanging out at 195

Diesel Auto Power, Engineered Diesel, Source Automotive, just a couple to check.

With the P0483 the fan is not working correctly so it will be warmer.

One word of caution that I have read here about. Be careful not to choose too big of injector if you don't have the turbo to go with it.

thanks for the heads up. i would like to stay as close to stock on the injectors. i dont want to drive a smoke machine. my 14 year old 6cta's dont even smoke on original injectors

The BBI Stage .5 injectors would be a good choice for that. A slightly larger, about 12% I think, nozzle with all the optimizations. A cheaper option would be the BMS50 marine injector, it works well in stock tuning and is cleaner than the 126 degree custom offerings.
