Engine in tucson needed in Houston

I bought a cummins off ebay a few months ago and the guy hasn't sent it yet.

Is there anybody in Tucson that could go by there and see if I am screwed.

If its there is anyone coming to Houston that could transport it for me??

How long would it take to drive to Tucson from Houston and back?

Thanks for the help.

(Assuming Houston and Tucson are the usual ones... )

Atlas says 1072 miles. That makes it about 15 hours one way, assuming 75 MPH, and two half-hour food-n-fuel stops.

I have friends in Tucson that may help you out

If you want email me the details and I will contact them.

I support the "Red Rocket" ;)

I'm trying to locate the info on this deal.

To make matters worse we have lost the info on the guy we sent the money too.

We have got to get our collective act together over here.

Is there a way to retreive deleted e-mails???

I talked to the guy tonight, he says he is having a hard time finding someone to haul it for a reasonable cost, that he could get it here quick but it would cost a lot.

So, that said, I think I will be driving to Tucson.

I don't have the time but I want to get this done.

Can anybody help with some of the logistics, such as cheap hotels, route, etc. any info at all would be appreciated, even the smallest details.

If I can work it out I was thinking of leaving Houston friday morning, but thats all the planning I have so far.

Thanks for the help.

Michael,

I can't believe you haven't got that thing yet, I bet your really getting anxious. I'll be heading to Las Vegas around Dec 12 and returning Dec 17. If you can wait that long I'll swing by Tucson and pick it up on my way back.

Michael:

The route is Interstate 10 all the way from Houston to Tucscon. Buy fuel where you find it as once you leave San Antonio it will be about the same price all the way. Not many places to stop from about Ozona to El Paso but Fort Stockton and Van Horn. No problem running 75 all the way except if you're talking about going this Friday everyone in the United States will be on the road with you. If you can fill up in San Antonio and don't again till El Paso. It's 550 miles or so from San An to El Paso so it may be a stretch. Take the Anderson Loop, 1604, around San Antonio. It will save some time. If you spend the night in El Paso make sure everything in your truck is secure. No bypass around El Paso just stay on I10 all the way through.

I run that road pretty regular so if you need more info drop me a note and I'll respond about 6 this evening at home.

Another thought. Call Acme and all the other Hot Shot Services in Houston, look in the yellow pages. There will probably be someone deadheading back to Houston through Tucson in the next few days that would pick up the engine for a few dollars more if you would explain your situation. Your fuel bill would entice them.
