I just picked up a 96 reg cab 4x4 auto for 3k. It has 250K mile and a blow transmission. I have known the guy that owned it from day one, thats why I got the good deal.

How much hp, and more importantly torque can i get out of this truck. My brother is buying my 24v, cause I need a crew cab. I really dont want to spend 38K+ for a fodge or a chevy. i would much rather convert this one to a crewcab.

I am wanting in the 800lb ft range(crank) but mileage of number one. I am getting 19-24 out of my 24v lifted on 35 with 3. 55 in the rear.

Will i get about the same?

please give me info how to reach my goal... . what plate to use and things like that. its not as simple as adding a box, so i need help.

thanks for you time

$3000.00 ?????

You stole it!!

If you do a cam plate, injectors, time it to about 15 deg, and a gov spring kit, it should ba arounf 800 ft/lbs torque.

Better get a beefy transmission for that.

I get 20 mpg all the time, but it drops at high (70+ mph) speeds.

Sounds like a neat project, keep us posted.

Eric

I am sitting on 400HP and get 21. 5MPG mixed.

400HP is pretty easy to get, along with it you would be in the 830-850 torque range.

Todd

BTW who doing the conversion? see my sig? maybe we should talk. PM me if so.

See sig, 21-22 mpg open road 75mph, 17. 5 in town always and I am sorta a lead foot. 13. 5 avg towing 6500lb TT 7000 miles. Torque at 900ft lbs

Cumminpwr11,

I think these guys are quoting HP and torque numbers at the rear wheels instead of the crank. I get 19 to 21 (would get 22 but I tend to walk on it) MPG. Not much problem to get the numbers you want. Then you need to do the trans. Those numbers will tear up a stock trans.

I'm getting a little bummed out on all these MPG reports I'm only getting 12city and 16. 5 hwy. but I have 4. 10 axles... ..... Rick

Thanks for all the good info. I am looking forward to bombing this ctd.

Chris

I am going for 350-400 rwhp and as much milage as possible
