interesting thread...

Fireplace Grate heaters

Do what you can to minimize fuel costs. If you still can't afford the truck, sell it.

If you CAN afford the truck, then QUIT WHINING.

The oil companies are not out to get you. They aren't "screwing the little guys. " The rules of the game have changed. If you don't like the consequences of YOUR DECISION to drive a CTD or pull a huge house-on-wheels, then DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT-- sell it and find another hobby. Take up guitar or try reading a book.

You have no God-given right to oil. Or to a CTD.

If I could capture all of the energy waste complaining about oil, I'd never need to fill up my truck again!!!

So either act or take it like a man. Quit whining like a bunch of schoolgirls.

Has anybody seen the freaking prices of breakfast cereals lately. If the price hits 6 dollars a box I'm going to have to sell off my 1st generation kids. Its nuts out there, I wish there would be more in the damn box!!!!

Anybody figure out how I could get more raisins per scoopful? That would be an awfully big help, I think that the "BIG CEREAL GUYS" are out to get me somehow.

And what about those "Chocolate Coated BioBites" made from soybeans and metamphetamines those sound really good. Anybody try it out. Sounds like something those tree hugging elves might have come up with... .

I was thinking that if I used a smaller spoon rather then the "Big Honkin Spoon" I usually use, it would look fuller and maybe I wouldn't be so dang hungry afterwards.

And what about FASS thingee that gets rid of the microscopic milk bubbles before I ingest it. I read somewhere it works and the user had less gas afterwards. But I will wait 25 someodd pages until there is some real world proof. You guys agree?

This might be off topic but I Extrude Honed and swaincoated my toaster. The toast comes out quicker then before.

We Have Every Right To Whine!!!!!

Yeah ... I toped off my truck on the way home tonight ... 2. 64/gal this morning and 2. 79 when I came home. I'll be driving my Jetta TDI from now one ... and I WILL BE KEEPING A CLOSE EYE ON IT. I got the feeling that these little cars will be high on the "theft" list in the coming weeks. Oh yeah, when I toped off tonight, a husband and wife were filling up 9, 30 gal. plastic drums with gas at 2. 89/gal!!!! Wholly smokes, I should have stuck around to see the amount on the pump ... I wonder is there is enough digits to display the total!!

Also, up here in NH and anywhere where people have cold snowy winters ... If you burn wood POST CENTURIES AROUND THE WOOD PILE. I have a 14 cord pile of split oak and maple that is starting to look like a pile of gold bricks now! I'm gonna have to keep my . 50 BMG targed on that area to keep away looters!

I think I'll post a new subject on this :D

Don't get me started on the looters. For the record, my bed has 4 wrong sides as of this morning!

Zod-- thanks for the laughter. That's the funniest thing I've seen in ages!! I LOL'd 'til I cried!

anybody seen my sharpie marker lying around.....

Yea, you know you have made it as a Stuperintendent when there is a local artists rendition of your likeness with a rather large uh well "thing" in the close proximity to your uh well... .

Headshot zod, that is the first time I have ever laughed out loud on the TDR. That's the funniest thing I've read in a while.

^ Priceless ^

Well one good little tidbit coming out of all this bad news. . . with the EPA requirements on hold for the time being on the refinery process maybe we'll get some good high-sulfer fuel showing up at the pumps in the near future. For the time they don't need to process using recipes compliant with the Clean Air Act.

Best thread in years... just suck it up and pay. Or don't drive. Like me. I drove the bad boy all of 100 miles in August. I'm still working on that $2. 50/gal fuel. I guess it beats the 3. 48 I saw tonight. :D

I guess that the fact that the major oil companies are posting RECORD PROFITS is just a coincidence... Silly me

That is the point! Some one is making way too much money based on the disaster caused by Katrina. There is no way that the local cost of gas should go up 25% in 2 days! We have record stocks of oil and fuel on hand. The government is releasing some of the oil reserve. This is the kind of thing that can bring an economy down! There are people that have to have fuel to make a living and have no way of passing on the cost. So as long as it is free let them gripe and whine all they want!

There is such a shortage of petroleum products that the service stations and convenience stores are recommending you bring your OWN VASELINE - unless of course you like it dry!!

And dont forget that we have an oil man in the White House, and Vice President too. I'm SURE they are doing everything possible to bring fuel prices down. Silly me (again)

Hohn,

I've never whined about fuel prices. I'd pay $6. 00 per gallon if I could stop us from importing oil from the Middle East. But that's a subject for another thread. But in this thread, I fear I think you might be missing a point. I agree that if you can afford a big truck you should be able to afford the fuel it requires. I'm with you there. I also agree that it does no good to whine.

But I think the underlying point is that the U. S. oil companies have been looking to raise the baseline price for motor fuels for years. Now that there is a President who is receptive and will turn the other cheek AND a national disaster combined with the world crude price jump they're gouging the American public. It's a "green light" for them to maximize profits at our time of need. It's truly Un-American.

Some Patriotic Americans who truly believe in captialism see this as extortion and not free market enterprise. Energy company profits are at an all time high. They've quietly updated their infrastructre to control what the local dealers prices are. They TELL the local stations what to charge day to day and hour to hour. They'll call the local station and ASK THEM what fuel is going for in their area. Then they'll tell them to set the price at some number higher than the average in the area. It doesn't matter what the oil company has paid for the fuel. It's collusion and anti-competitive. It's illegal, wrong and it's un-American.

Now if the oil companies were not gouging and the price of fuel went up simply due some tangible market justification and not an irrational "emotional" basis bolstered by current newsworthy and political events, then I think that people would just pay the higher prices and keep their traps shut. But this is not the case. These are national oil companies (not regional) and today I'm reading that in some places fuel is $2. 49 per gallon and in other places it's over $5. 50 per gallon. What this means is that they've systematically targeted certain markets to exploit and they've gotten together to hold these markets hostage.

Again -- I'm with you on the whining. But I think there is something wrong here and I think that the politicians don't want to say anything because of the fact that the oil companies have so much power in Washington with this administration. There is something wrong here.

I can afford it and I'm not whining about the prices themselves. But I don't know if low to middle income folks who are just getting by can afford to have their energy needs double due to the exploitation of some greedy energy companies. A buddy of mine owns some energy stocks and they're going through the roof. I tell him he needs to give me a rebate because it's litterally coming out of my pocket and into his.

I hope this makes sense.

Carrying a spare can under the seat lately. :--) The diesel was 3. 06 up the road from my shop. :--) Oddly enough it is only2. 56 at the station next to my shop. I sure hope he doesn't see the 3. 06 price 6 miles up the road. :(

Get Used To It Foks Be Glad You Have It ..... oil Industry Is Decimated I Know Tell Every One To Help Refugees We Are Talking Life And Death Doewn Here

JGANN-- totally agree. It appears that there is a lot of manipulation in the oil market and there's more than meets the eye. Where's the "consumer advocate" types now? Where's Nader?

Where's O'Reilly? I mean he's supposedly "looking out for you", right?

The silence is deafening.
