Need opinions and guidance...

At 100000 plus miles on my Ram, a new South Bend Con OFE clutch sitting here ready to be installed, and more engine upgrades planned, I decided it would be a good time to get rid of my potential 5th gear nut problem and go with a re-built NV-4500 and just get it overwith... can't afford the downtime on a home rework.

So, which way to go, Enteprise Engines or Blumenthals as a source for the rebuilt transmission. I have seen both mentioned often, would like to hear any good, bad, or indifferent opinions?

Oh, and should I fill it with Amsoil? :p :-{}

Thanks in advance, Greg

Don't forget Standard Transmission as a possible source. 800-std-tran

they are good, and were written up in TDR #31.

I would ask the vendor of the trans what lube to use to protect your warranty on the rebuilt unit.

Greg,

You can't go wrong with Enterprise. Especially since you are close to them.

Nice thing about Mitchells is they know personally what holds up, what doesn't, from their own trucks. I don't know of anybody who rebuilds trannys who abuses them as much as Mitchell's.

They have done a lot of work for me, starting with the 5 speed.

Hotshotters seem to end up there a lot from all over the country.

I have used the Amsoil, for over 100,000 miles.

I have never heard anything bad about Blumenthals, either.
