Competition Where are variable geometry turbos?

I'm in the process of building a new motor and need a block bored . 020 Nobody around my area has a deck plate to bore a block and I was told to use one. So I thought I'd call enterprise since their susposed to be a high quality place. Their only about 6 hours away but I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone and buy all my parts while i was there(tt set-up, cam, squirters, transmission parts, only about 10 grand in parts) have them bore my block, notch my pistons, and be gone. When I called the guy who answered was a complete smartass from the start, he said they don't bore in house, thats fine, I asked if the machinist used a torq plate when they bored? He did'nt know what that was, so he said uh-uh. So how much do they charge? Well hold on we just sent one out for that, I held . He said they charged 120 but they just cleaned it up. So I assumed that was to be ball honed, so how much to bore? He said probably the same about 120. I wanted to get more info from someone who knew what they were talking about because I doubted that inbreed did. So I asked for the machinists number, well I don't have it he said... ... Has anybody else had any problems with anybody there? Sorry but as much money as I'm about to spend I'll put up with nobodys B. S. Customer service should be important in any business. If they won't help guess I'll drive to British Columbia. Any suggestions? Are they worth the aggrevation?

I've never heard any bad re pore on Dave or Loretta Mitchell,I have meet and talked to both a few times and they are good people and are noted for customer satisfaction.

More than likely you talked to Doug, the shop foreman. He is busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest.

Try calling back and ask to speak with Dave or Brian.

With comments like that, how do you expect to be treated? And yes, they do know what they're talkin' about.

I have talked to the folks there and they have all ways taken time to answer my questions. Very friendly an that is important to me.

How ever I will not spend a penny where is am treated badly or I think they have a attitude problem. If you are not happy then I would go some where else and not give it a second thought.

I asked about the decking plate to a few people also. I would guess that all of the main bearing caps need to be torqued on and torque plate, gasket. I wont a good hone not a glaze breaker,

I assume some type of keystone rings or ring is used. Are you going to use marine pistons and fly cut the pistons to clear the camshaft? I have often wondered if larger valves were possible?

And a good three angle valve job and blending the seats to the port. How about the rod bolts and head bolts? Good luck on the rebuild. JimK

I too have kinda got the run-a-round on a phone call when I was just "getting prices" for stuff not even that expensive, BUT it was not DAVE!

IF you can call and talk to Dave. I have met Dave and Lorretta at a couple of TN pulls, and they are great people. Dave on one hand is usually all tied up with the rest of the Competitive guys pulling, but from what little I have talked to him he seems like a great guy. Miss Lorretta has spent who know's how much time talking to me at the pulls and COUNTLESS emails.

They are good people, and they do know their stuff.

it doesn't matter who you talk too--if they don't have the answer then they need to tell you they will need to get back to you, not give you "I thinks" type of answers--in lieu of this I think I'd call back and talk to someone else since they're fairly close--as they're known to be top notch---maybe the guy was a newbie there or was having a bad day. but you won't go wrong going to BC to see Piers either... . chris
