So it's been another 3750 miles and with the very cold weather we are having, I just couldn't bring myself to crawl under the truck and grease the drive shaft fitting on my 06. Since I had spent so much time during my last oil change educating the dealer on where the fitting was and what to grease it with, I thought I would drop by and get them to grease it. . Even if they charged me $20, seemed worth it today...

I stopped in without an appointment, but they didn't seem busy. I called it a 5 minute job, but they of course didn't agree. .

They said they would take care of it and I went in to wait. After about 25 minutes or so, they came in and asked me where I had it greased before. I said at this very dealership and explained the events of my last oil change. They didn't have the fitting, someone had to go buy one etc...

I end up on a creeper rolling under the truck with the mechanic to show them where the fitting was. I had watched 3-4 different people roll under the truck in the 25 minutes I had waited. .

Once it was found, they had to find the grease gun tip again, apparently it had become misplaced. .

All in all 55 minutes later I had my single fitting greased at no charge. Think they are writing the event up to training. .

I wonder how many people/dealers/other oil change places are not greasing this fitting?

That's why I grease my own. Fortunately for me I have a heated garage.

But that is a good question: Do they really do it?

On another note: I think Tom Woods makes a replacement part, at least for the Jeep driveshafts that use CV shafts. I don't know if it would work on our Dodges. I'll wait until mine breaks/wears out before I research more on this.

Is a one-star dealership the same as a Lone-star dealership? :)

I have never greased mine. Maybe I should find it. I bought a special small grease gun and tip just for it a few weeks ago, but still have not looked for it.

I had an 04. 5, but don't recall it having the fitting or the warning to grease it.

Check under your hood, I have a sticker on the cross member by the radiator telling to grease it. .

I will do that, thanks

I have the sticker but no grease Zerk. No hole or anything. Had it to 3 different dealers, all have said some don't have it.
