I certainly believe it Steved,, but the system caught it and it did not causee the whole system to be replaced. The fix for the problem is what I just can't understand.

We have had water in fuel before but it's filtered out. On the farm we filter it just before it goes into the tank. The filter is clear so you can see the water right away.

I'm going to follow this thread for sure. So please let us know the results.

I can't believe this. On the farm we have used fuel for years on many diffferent tractors and trucks. Stored in tanks that keep fuel over the winter etc. Never ever had a problem.

We all know of the algae prob but I have never seen it.

We do filter the fuel at the time of filling. Also I cant figure out why the engine filter system did not pick up on the issue.

I would guess this is not the problem. But whatever it is will be masked by the complete system replacement.

Seems like in the world today people can't diagnose problems, so just replace until the problem gets tired and leaves.

The other thing you got to remember is the fact your "older" mechanical trucks are a lot less suseptable to contaminated fuel than these newer CRDs...

And contaminated fuel is quite a "broad" term... contaminated with what?? Water? Gasoline? Dirt? Bugs? Additivies? Birdseed?? Steak Sauce?? I feel we assume contaminated fuel generally means contaminated with water... I also feel the dealers "hide" behind that broad term so they can avoid being liable for repairs... and unless you are savy enough to grab a sample for yourself and have it analyzed... who will argue?

When I got the 95, the fuel in the filter looked more like pond water than fuel. :--)

I hit it with one shot of algae killer and never had another issue. P-pumps and mechanical injectors rule!

Sorry, I know that doesn't help, but is my commentary on newer ain't better--specially with the epa and Al Bore funking up the design of engines.

Best of luck dealing with DC. It's going to be an uphill, nay, up mountain battle.

Fram has changed their fuel fiter for the 06 and 07 however their web site still says to use a CS8941. Tech staff says to use a CS10145. Tech says the CS8941 is only for older 5. 9's. I think other major filter companys are changing to a finer filter also. I really don't understand why they haven't changed the web site to reflect the new number.
