has any one installed one of these?, my question is how do you remove

the frost plug in the port boss located on the pan rail? any help appreciate.

thank you

I got part of the lip up and then could not get a hold of the plug. I took it to one of my friends that works at Midas. They put it up on the rack and used a very long crowbar. It finally popped out. My had a small lip under the rim.
Others on here have used a large bolt and screwed it into the plug and then used the bolt for better leverage to pry it out. Some have gotten it on the first shot, some take forever, and some just push it down into the pan for later recovery.
Hope this helps.

what about using one of the hooked gasket/seal puller, hooking the tool under the lip in the inside of the plug and levering it out? I'm thiniing that the only limiting factor would be space for the tool to move. I havent looked at the plug so not sure about it, just thought I would throw that out there.

I have a manual transmission & it was still a tight spot to work in. The plug doesn't have much of a lip on it.

I also did one on an automatic & it was a tighter spot to work in with trans cooler lines, I still think the bolt threaded in & a nail bar works better.

I just used a long thin screw driver from the underside of the engine and it popped right off with a couple light taps.

Keep it simple!

There are different types of plugs depending on the year. Some early models don't have a lip. I pushed my down into the pan (accidentally) about four years ago and haven't look back since. No problems. I still look for it every oil change but haven't found it yet. It may have floated out by me, it's very small. Either way it's no big deal. You'll love the kit, it works great.
