I almost never reply on TDR anymore (long story) but I had to here.
I have had the Equalizer Hitch for almost three years and I love it. I also got to use my dad's Reese setup while visiting him over Christmas last year, and it's a complete POS in comparison.
The Equalizer Hitch is a very beefy and very well designed hitch. I have towed two trailers with it, both flatbed car trailers. My current trailer is a 26' long (end to end incl tongue) flatbed that weighs 2400# empty and around 5500-6000# loaded, depending on the car.
I've had the car positioned toward the rear of the trailer, intentionally to balance the trailer and keep tongue weight down. This is because I carry a Lance camper and have a 48" hitch extension from Torklift. Even though it has a 1000# tongue weight rating even in its 48" length, I still try to keep tongut weight down. But my point is that even with the car positioned rearward, I get ABSOLUTELY NO SWAY, even in high winds.
The hitch is extremely easy to use and to connect. Once you've done it a few times, it becomes second nature. You will really come to appreciate just how beefy and well-designed it is. The EQHitch folks even have great customer service! I discovered a cracked weld on my hitch head last year, and called them about it. They said to send it in and they'd send me a new head. And that's exactly what they did, no questions asked. And this was even after I'd owned the hitch for almost two years.
While I've never seen or used the Hensley, I think it's completely and totally overpriced. Once you've used the Equalizer Hitch, I think you'll agree.
