Equipment console ...

Just posted some update pics of my custom equipment console I built. It now actually has some equipment in it. :-laf



I put them over on my gallery on the DTR website, here is my post there. The two new pictures are in my gallery there.



Currently have the newly installed Xzillaraider adjustment knob (with a little name plate I made up), Espar control panel, electronic altimeter, and Uniden 780XLT scanner. Still plenty of room for a few more gadgets. (SmartBrake controller, tire pressure monitor, ... . )

I used cardbaord to make a template of the side profile. I just got the profile to look good and then cut the sides from some MDF (3/4" thick I believe). Next I just decided on width and cut some rectangular pieces for the front back that then forms a complete box. I also have a subframe made of angle iron on the bottom that is square and holds an amp that I have. The face plate is 3/16" aluminum sheet and sets down in, against a rack system that I use to hold the scanner for instance, kinda like a rack mount system used for computer servers. I covered the whole thing with some self adhesive vinyl normally used for speaker cabinets. I got the rack system (had to cut it) and vinyl wrap from www.partsexpress.com.
