Though I would pass this along to you guys and gals.

Eric Clapton auctioned off a bunch of his prized guitars yesterday at Christies auction house in New York City. His prized stratocaster "blackie" sold for an amazing $959,500 and his Gibson ES-335 he used when he was with Cream sold for $847,500. Stevie Ray Vaughan's strat "lenny" was also auctioned and fetched a cool $623,500. All together $7,438,624 was raised from the auction, and all of it went to the Crossroads Rehab Center, which Clapton himself formed. Here is a link:

That's cool. Someday, after I'm famous, I'm going to auction off the calculator that I used in college for charity. I expect it'll bring in about $0. 12, but will be a great tax break for me.

It's a great accomplishment, but it's saddening as well. It seems to me that Clapton is at a place in his life that may elderly people find themselves in: they give everything away expecting soon to die.

I hope Eric's not done making music. And since his "signature" model Strat from Fender really sucks, what guitar is he going to play?
