Has anyone had problems with their Westach Fp gauge fluctuating?... . Mine has always been 15-20 idle and about 12-13 WOT, and all of a sudden it dropped to 10-12 idle and crashes to 0 when I stomp on it, but then sometimes it doesn't drop to zero and stays about 10..... The LP only has about 10K on it..... Any input would be greatly appreciated.

not had any problems with westach gauge in 3 years. i would first check the lp with a mechanical gauge. it will tell the story if its the gauge or bad lp. lp can fail at low mileage, had 1 failed out of the box. hope this helps.

I have a Westach electrical and have had similar issues. First thing is clean the connections to and from the sender. This helped me twice. Then, if it continues to act erradically, it's probably your lift pump. Mine would hold normal idle pressure of 13-ish and drop to 0 as soon as I left the garage. It was the lift pump and it never happened again with a new one.

Do it soon, don't want to drive with 0 pressure to the VP.

I had all kinds of problems with my Westach. Like CORed said, keep it clean & check your wires & splices. You may have to do this several times before it starts to act right. I also have a $10 NAPA gauge permanently mounted under the hood for piece of mind when my gauge acted crazy.

Before blaming the Westach guage or sender, do what was suggested above, and VERIFY with a separate mechanical guage that the problem IS guage related, and not an accurate indication of fuel supply problems!

Intermittant line blockage or air leakage, clogged filters, erratic pump operation, intermittant pump cavitation - and more - can all display the same symptoms you are seeing on your guage - and you need to accurately treat the PROBLEM, not the perceived symptom!

Thanks for the responses....

Thanks so much for all your input... . I will definately clean the connecters and retighten them. Where can I get a mechanical gauge..... would it instal right on top of my fuel filter cannister?... ... . Once again thx for the help... Mike
