Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Erratic gas mileage

I hope someone can help! i am experiencing inconsistent gas mileage with my 99 2500 4x4 diesel 5 spd 24v with 111,000 miles and 265x75x16 tires at 70 lbs pressure. I have changed the oil and air and fuel filters. The mileage jumps from 10-12 to 16-18 with no variation in driving conditions or loads. I have tried different fuel stations and tire pressures with no luck. Please respond if you can help the fuel prices are killing us!

Try changing the injectors to the 275 RV from Bosch. A cheap upgrade and will help with mileage in most cases. If you have the cash go with the EDM's, all I have heard about them is good. With the 5 speed you should be getting 16+ all the time.

Snug up all your intake hose clamps. over time they loose their tension. It was good for 2 MPG and my 98 24V.
