After being parked for 5 months and not being started at all she fired right up today on first crank. took her out for a drive and after about 10 minutes of driving on the interstate I noticed the rail pressure gauge was bouncing and the truck surging. I pulled off the interstate and coast to a stop on neutral. While coasting to a stop I noticed at times the rail pressure drops to the lowest setting and the RPM dropped as well and feels like the truck was about to stall. I turned it off and restarted and this time the engine check light came on. I drove back home and the same thing rail pressure erratic and truck surging.

I plugged the Smaty to check the code and it says "P0193 fuel pressure sensor voltage too high". Anyone knows what might be the cause of the erratic rail pressure? Could it be a bad FCA?

J had a edge EZ that went south and acted the same way, I agree take everything off you have plugged into the sensor to isolate. If it still acts the same you FCA is shot.

I'd lean to the FCA too. Mine was doing that, and eventually quit working all together, about 10 miles from home on a sat afternoon #@$%!

Checked for water on the FWS canister but nothing but fuel came out. Fuel pressure is good and never dropped below 7 PSI so I know my dual CAT 2 micron fuel filters are not clogged.

Returned the Smarty setting to stock and took it for a drive. Well it runs almost good with slight bounce on the rail pressure gauge. However I know there is something wrong because when I'm cruising on the interstate at about 60 MPH rail pressure normally goes up as I press the skinny pedal to go a little faster but instead the rail pressure goes down 5-7K and then recovers once I back off the skinny pedal. It is not surging anymore as the rail pressure is not bouncing as much as before the Smarty was removed.

Unlike before the Smarty was returned to stock it idles fine now. I have no rail pressure added on the Smarty setting. I'm almost sure it is the FCA, rail pressure relief valve or sensor. Any idea?

What gauge are you running to read the rail pressure? I have a Pricol Optix one and they have a know harness problem. To be honest they have terible customer service. They told me on the phone that they are having issues with the harness and they would send me a new one after I sent the old one back to ,6 months later I am still waiting for it. I guess they lost it. One of these days I will get around to call them and see if I can get my $300 gauge working. I was having the same problems as you and spent $500 on a rail sensor and FCA just to find out when I wiggled the harness I could get the truck to stall. Hope this helps.

Swithrow Has the Sensors at Present, If you Need Them He will forward to Your Address,You just need to Pay the shipping to the Next Guy or Back to Us.

I have a Pricol Optix rail pressure gauge. I will try unhooking the gauge and see what it will do. I never had any problem with the rail pressure gauge acting up and it was always accurate for my need. I agree that they have terrible customer service and don't seem to care if they lose customers.

TWest, in your expert opinion what do you think is the issue if it is not the rail pressure harness? It is just strange since I have not used the truck in 5 months and when I cranked her up it acted up with this issue. I will be more than happy to ship the rail sensor back to you or to whoever needs it. Should I contact Swithrow directly?

It may just clear Up. . Do too sitting so Long,Yes Contact Swithrow to expedite shipping.

Put everything back to factory and Use die-electric grease on all connections.

Fuel control actuator. It's on the CP3 and controls the fuel thru the manifold to the Gear Pump that is mounted on the rear of the Pump.

Swithrow,Will forward to You, unfortunately his problem still exists. Send PM to him for correct address (Ship To)

I had the same problems, it was the DiPricol RP gauge/harness causing my problems. I disconnected the harness, my truck ran fine, I cleaned the terminals on the harness, re-installed it, back to the bobbin RP, downward deflection of the gauge, etc. I removed the DiPricol gauge/harness, went to the ISSPRO EV2 RP gauge,no more problems.

X 3 on the horrible service !!!#@$%! Tried going through who I bought the gauge from and was turned over to Pricol themselves, never heard back or a darn thing !! Most expensive gauge I've ever bought for anything ... and the least reliable !!

Exactly why I backed off the DiPricol and bought the ISSPRO. These things are annoying enough WITHOUT the gauges contributing. :-laf

I can say that I did not have horrible service out of DiPricol. I sent my gauge and harnessback to them with my list of problems, they sent me back a new gauge and new harness about 3 weeks later. I hooked it up,verified it'sperformance was correct, then sold it. While I had it off the truck I just replaced it with the ISSPRO EV2's, in fact, I also replaced a set of ISSPRO Classic boost, egt and fuel press with new EV2's.

I liked the better gauge match to the stock gauges that the ISSPRO's had, the DiPricol was NOT as close a match.
