Okay,

I thought that I had a lift pump problem. Pulled up to a stop sign, engine idled rough then stalled. Started again right away with the "check engine" light on so I took it to the dealer the next morning.

The lift pump checked out with 8psi at start and 13psi running. The dealer tells me that they can't replace the lift pump with these numbers.

The error code that they pulled out was a P0336 which means crankshaft position sensor signal.

My question is has anyone seen this problem? Would this have caused the stall/rough idle?

Thanks.

I guess that I'm the only one that has ever seen this

Oh well. It happened again yesterday with the same error code being generated so I'm going to the dealer to buy the replacement sensor.

Thanks Bob,

With the search egine disabled for so long I hadn't noticed that it was re-enabled. :)

Well,

I just finished replacing the sensor. Disassembly took much longer than reassembly. Getting that top bolt out of the starter took thinner arms than I have so I came away with a lot of scratches on my forearms. But the job is complete.

The part was > $40 at my local dealer. He said that they actually have replace quite a few of these things.

Anyway, I'll see how it drives tomorrow.

Glad I didn't pay the dealer $200 for the part & install. Oo.
