Error Code P1693-Back to the dealer!

Fellow Rammers:

Welp, today I goosed my truck going thru an intersection and got an error code P1693. In my manual, it says:"a DTC detected in companion module" and another entry lists this code as:"DTC Detected in PCM/ECM or DTC detected in ECM. "

Anyone have a clue what this could be? #ad

This question came up recently but I cannot locate the thread it was in. The 1693 error code meaning can be obtained by hooking it up at your local Dodge dealer (Back to the dealer as you say). I'm remember that the code is generic for many things, but the 'error code machine" at the shop can locate the problem. Mine has the same code showing after my oil pressure sensor gave out, dealer replaced it, but obviously didn't reset the codes. I plan on leaving mine alone until I REALLY NEED to see the dealer again. #ad

Thanks for responding David. I started the truck two more times and the check engine light went out. I would cancel my appointment with the dealer tomorrow, but I've had a stumble problem that I've had two ECM reflashes done to fix and is still with me.

Gonna ask the dealer to dig deeper to find the stumble. It happened this last weekend while pulling my 5th wheel, and it was brief, but violent when it happened.

I'll post results when I get it back from the dealer

Got a call today that a factory rep and the deisel mechanic are checking my truck. Hopefully, they are working on the problem and not focusing too much on my Psycotty, TST and BD exhaust brake. This makes the third time I'm in for the stumble problem

Fingers crossed, I'm anxious to see outcome tomorrow.

The saga continues...

The service rep called me today and told me the error code they extracted was on my injection pump. Said they are gonna run the test flow chart and check fuel pressures. Look'n in my service manual now for the procedure.

Looks like I'll know something tomorrow. Again, I'll keep yall posted. Additionally, I'll e-mail folks who responded to this post to let them know I've posted results.

My 5 Star service rep called me and told me my injection pump checked put fine and to come by and get it. I ended up getting to the dealership late after the service rep and mechanic had gone home.

Tomorrow, I'm gonndrop back by and ask for a copy of the tests and test result they performed. Will post results tomorrow.

I'm gonna run it with the PM2 on to see if I get anymore stumble. If I do, I'm gonna disconnect and run without it to see what happens.

My truck is exactly the same as yours,a 2000 4x4 QC 6spd long bed with DDII's a PM3,and starting in Febuary I got a stuble once in a great while. So far it only happened six times and never did it before Febuary. The first three times it did it was on the same tank of fuel,so I blamed it on the fuel. The next three times have been about two weeks apart each,and on different tanks/brands of fuel. It did it with the PM on (set at '0') and off,and it also did it while I had a pressure gauge hooked up,so I know it's not the lift pump. My injector pump is strong,so I'm blaming it on the ECM. No codes ever showed up whenever it did it.

Truck stumbled two more times. I disconnected TST PM2 and will see what happens. Will post results here.

boy , thats a pretty ballsy move to take it in with the PM2 on board and having a factory rep look at it . i'd have to guess its related to the PM , but you never know .

Turn your ignition key to run then off twice, then to run and leave it in the run position, do not start the engine. Watch the odometer and record the numbers it shows.
It should show you PCM and ECM codes in the odometer. Post the numbers if any show up. 0237 indicates low voltage from the boost sensor, 0234 indicates high voltage from the boost sensor.

There is a TSB for miss/stumble for 2000 Ram Diesel, I believe it is 18-24-99. This miss was cause by the stock program in the ECM. If the miss is caused as a result of the PowerMax, then it is usally the result of a loose 12 volt connection, or loose MAP harness connection if it sets a check light. If it does not set a check light, then it is a loose connection at the injection pump.
