Eska outboard motor questionn

I have an old Eska 5 hp outboard motor that I can't seem to keep running. A while back, several years ago it seemed fine but now it runs for about 10 minutes then quits. Can you help me to try if I'm doing something wrong to keep it running. It has an auxilliary tank and an onboard tanks as well. Am I opening the air vents properly ?? Should I close off the on board tank air vent? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Will it re-start when it shuts down??



I would make sure both vents are open.

No it won't restart. I row back to shore. I'll check on both vents and I think they are both open but there is a gas line (rubber) that leads from the tank to a shut off valve and I have closed this thinking that I'm drawing gas from the auxilliary tank not the on board tank. Maybe this is valve sould be open??

I'll bet that's the problem...



Does it still pull over the same when it stalls, cold vs hot??



If it's not the valve, you might be loosing compression...

I can still try to start it but it just sputters.
