I bought an Espar kit last fall,,it was for a 2003 -2006 truck,,but other than the bracket i dont think much is different,,,plus i was going to make my own brackets myself,,,and find a better location than down on the bottom front frame,,,

Does anyone have any good suggestion as to where would a good location to mount the unit away from road grime,,,

Also,,what's the best location to tap into the cooling system. .

I am considering installing it in the box next to put aux tank,,if thats a possibility. .

Any info would greatly appreciated,,,it's getting pretty cold up here now,,,and the Espar sitting on the shelf doesn't heat up the truck much. .

Thanks

The 2nd gen dodge kit had a bracket to mount the heater above the frame rail - drivers side - below the brake cylinder/hoses/etc. You might find that bracket somewhere - A couple of years ago, Espar still had it in their accessories catalog, although they may have discontinued it by now. That location was reasonably free of road grime and was a good location for plumbing the fuel feed from the fuel tank. The drawback, in my opinion, was the coolant lines draping over the top of your engine. I chose to build my own bracket and mounted the D5 to the passenger side wheel-well near the battery. This location requires a bit more plumbing for the fuel feed, but makes the coolant tie-in a snap. It's also inside the engine bay and relatively free from road grime. You tie the D5 into the coolant hose running from the engine to the heater core. Your kit should have the literature explaining this as well as the specs for max distance to push/pull the fuel and the correct elevation of the heater in relation to the fuel tank and the coolant level in the engine. This is important! As far as mounting the D5 in the cargo area, that would require a long coolant run (wasted heat), and may be too high for the unit to pump coolant correctly. It needs to be below the engine coolant level.

I'm not sure what bracket came with your kit, but I've seen these heaters mounted right behind the front bumper (usually on the passenger side corner) on the 3rd gens.

Hope that helps - sorry no pics yet. Best of luck -you're gonna love it!
