I Have the mopar/espar option on my truck & the unit works 85% of the time. Seems to work less often when it is cold (misfire & does not ignite, stinky unburnt diesel) I Run b5

Anyone else had problems w/ theirs

Thanx

I ended up replacing mine last fall. The burner tube was shot and it was going to cost about $800 to replace it or about $1200 for a new unit which included the pump plus warranty for 2 years. The original unit worked okay but did misfire from time to time and never did make the heat that the new one does. One place you can check is the wiring harness connections onto the unit or close to it. They have been a problem spot on both my 94 and on the 03. On second thought check all the connections as they replaced a wiring harness close to the batteries last year. Even though I've had some problems I wouldn't be without the Espar.

Espar's should be run once a month no matter what the weather is. It should throw a fault code on display if you have seven day timer. Burner's only cost about $129. 00 and takes about 40 minutes to replace once unit is out. Water Pump impellers get full of slop and will stop unit, should be cleaned yearly.

We tried to become a dealer... and we never could come to terms with time or get product as requested, maybe your stories tell the real story... thanks

espar

thanx for the input, it is under warranty still so we will see(truck was new in march & heater was installed in June). It has the mopar controler acces(3 x per day) i did not get any manual except for the one for the controller module from the dealer so i was not farmilliar w/ maint etc. I will contact espar for a manual.

Thanx

You can download a manual at Espar's web site. All kinds of info there. I finally gave up on my 8 year old Espar D4 and replaced it with a D5. Heats faster and works every time. I wouldn't be without it. I have them on a '98 and an '04.
