Just curious has anyone had a stock ETH on a dyno? just want to know how much H. P. and Torque its putting to the ground. RWHP;)

I dynoed mine when it was mostly stock... Did 234/489 with a straight pipe and Scotty Air. Did 350/800 with the addition of Stage 3 injectors from DD. :D

I had my ETH with the mods below dynoed today... just got back. The truck made 343/765 with the mods listed below. We pulled the TTPM and got 283/636. We made all pulls in fifth gear. Is this about normal for the listed mods? I still have no clutch slippage at 11K miles..... CJ

On DD's old dyno my ETH put down 245hp, all stock except for the K&N RE-0880 air filter I was running then  Only had 2999 miles on the clock that day, 4-15-00.

If I get on the dyno this weekend in Spokane I'll post the numbers.

another dumb question

COBRAJET, why did you make the runs in 5th gear? What kind of EGTs are you seeing? Mine stock was 234hp 517 torque, on Edges dyno. I haven't redone it with the injectors and exhaust.

From what I understand, you want to use direct drive, i. e. , 5th gear for the ETH, for the best numbers on a dyno that is properly set to load up our trucks. That being said, I had to run in 6th gear to get my highest numbers on my last dyno run, it wouldn't load up fast enough to work the truck in 5th. In 6th, with the BD step 3 injectors and the Edge EZ box, HX-40 and scotty air, I ran 366 RWHP, hoping for around 425 or so the next time I dyno.

We used fifth gear to keep the rearend from running close to 120 mph looking for the HP number. The dyno operator felt it was the best gear choice as well. We made one pull in sixth gear and it made no difference so we stayed in fifth. I was on a Superflow Dyno which has the ability to add eddy current to the rollers and load the truck to full boost in any gear. The pull we made in sixth seemed to be trying to tick the clutch off so I stayed in fifth the rest of the time. On the last pull instead of just running from 1500 to 3200 in about 15 seconds we stopped at 1600 RPM and loaded the rollers until the clutch slipped and recorded 808 ftlbs. Kind of a steady state test which the operator says usually gives a higher number. The max temp I saw was around 1250 degrees. Most runs were around 1150-1200. The max TQ was at 1725 and HP was at 3050. The truck was making over 700ftlbs at 1500RPM's. The same guy has had my PSD on the dyno several times. I think he is ready to upgrade the 6. 0 Vortec for a diesel... likely a Duramax since he builds Chevy race car engines all day long. My trucks have recorded the highest TQ numbers on his dyno. . pretty cool... CJ

Hey Cobra,

Where did ya get the dyno runs done at?

I am in the Dallas area and always looking around to dyno.

RAMalama,

Yeah, that is with the 3's, straightpipe and air filter... I have since added an EZ, boosting me another 50 horse or so. Will be doing clutch VERY soon.
